Samhain, All Hallow’s Eve, or as most know it, Halloween, is a day where the veil is at its thinnest. That being said, Halloween night would the best time to reach out to spirits. WARNING: Be aware that this could have a bad outcome, give you a fright and welcome unpleasant spirits in, if this isn’t performed right. If you aren’t experience then some precautions to take would be to cast a protection spell, where a amulet for protection and be sure to Close and Open your circle.
The other flip side would be to do none of the above with the speculation that doing too much protection would not allow ANY spirit to cross the veil. So rule of thumb would be, know what spirit you’re calling, and if one does reach you, do not give it your name EVER. Then after, give the space a good cleanse with sage.
If using an Ouija Board is on the list of things to do for Halloween, then here’s some guidelines for proper use and storage that some might not know:
Never store the Ouija Board with its Planchette (the heart shape piece) together, touching, while it’s not being used
When starting the session, show the spirit how to use the board. So have everyone’s hands on it, and move it around and express how to answer questions
When you’re done, say Goodbye and move the planchette to the ‘Goodbye’ word on the board
Don’t use it by yourself
Don’t leave the planchette on board when you’re done
